We propose C-band phase-referencing EVN+e-MERLIN imaging of V3890 Sgr, the symbiotic recurrent nova that went into its third recorded outburst on 2019-08-27 (previous outbursts in 1962 and 1990). V3890 Sgr may be considered a more distant cousin of RS Oph, which was extensively followed with VLBI after its outburst in 2006. We aim to image the synchrotron emission associated with shocks and clarify their geometry. The shocks in novae are responsible for accelerating non-thermal particles emitting gamma-rays and heating parts of the ejecta to >~1.e7 K. Understanding the geometry of shocks is needed to relate our conclusions about the shock physics derived from symbiotic novae to classical novae and other types of shock-powered transients including supernovae and stellar mergers.
