pc-scale binary AGN
According to hierarchical theory of galaxy formation, galaxy merger plays a significant role in galaxy evolution. Representing simultaneous black hole accretion during a merger, dual AGNs could provide valuable observational constraints to models of galaxy mergers and AGN triggering. Although there have been many attempts to search dual AGNs, the number of confirmed dual AGNs are still limited, especially binary AGNs at pc scales. Based on the archival VLBI observations, the galaxy IC 860, is conceivable to present binary AGN at a separation of about 19.2 pc. Our preliminary results from VLBA observations at 2022 have successfully detected two components at four bands, and strongly favor the presence of two nuclei. We propose EVN observations for a total observing time of 16 hours at C and K bands, to obtain the clear core-jet structure in southern component at C band, and to obtain detection at K band. The proposed observations will serve as the final confirmation of binary AGN in IC 860, the second tightest binary AGNs at pc scales.
