Verify Gaia Astrometric Results using Radio Stars
We propose to observe a sample of optical bright radio stars using the EVN including Tianma 65m radio telescope, with the final goals: (1) link the optical Gaia Celestial Reference Frame (GCRF) and the radio Interenational Celestial Reference Frame (ICRF), which is realized by a set of coordinates of radio sources from VLBI observations; (2) validate the Gaia parallaxes using radio stars to estimate the parallax zero-point of Gaia. The immediate purpose of this proposal is to evaluate if the stars are suitable for VLBI astrometry, by measuring brightness and compactness of each star in snap-shot mode.
