Title

e-EVN: EW045A

Abstract

The Einstein Probe (EP) has identified a new class of X-ray binaries (XRBs) characterized by low peak luminosities, rapid X-ray variability, and evolving radio spectra indicative of discrete jet ejections. These peculiar properties?relatively faint X-ray emission combined with prominent transient jets?make them distinct from known XRBs. This discovery offers a unique opportunity to explore an unexplored accretion/ejection regime, challenging current jet-accretion models. To systematically study these XRBs, we propose a series of multi-band observations, with the EVN playing a critical role. We plan to conduct single-epoch EVN observations for up to six events over one year, triggered by EP detections. The primary goals are to achieve precise localization and resolve the compact jet structures in these under-luminous XRBs, which could potentially reveal new physics in jet formation and evolution.

Context for this data

This data is part of the archive of VLBI data maintained by JIVE on behalf of the EVN, a network of radio telescopes located primarily in Europe and Asia, with additional antennas in South Africa. The EVN archive itself has the DOI https://doi.org/10.17616/R3Z197
