30GHz-peaking source in IC2810
Recent high-resolution VLA surveys of local Luminous Infrared Galaxies (LIRGs) have revealed a peculiar compact radio source in IC2810 with an SED that peaks around 30GHz. This source, referred to as IC2810EXT, lies in the galaxy disk of IC2810, and does not have optical/NIR counterparts despite its proximity to a bright MIR component at 8um that indicates dust-obscured star-forming activity. Based on archival VLA and ALMA data analysis, we propose that IC2810EXT is likely (1) an extremely young star-forming region that emits anomalous microwave emission(AME) from spinning dust nano-particles, or (2) a background high-z AGN that may be caught in the early stage of evolution. Here, we propose a simple EVN detection experiment at 5 GHz to search for compact high brightness temperature (>10^5 K) core at the location of IC2810, which would confirm an AGN origin. On the other hand, non-detection will significantly favor the AME scenario. The requested observation is a necessary step towards understanding the nature of compact 30GHz-peaking radio sources that are likely to be frequently detected with sensitive radio surveys in the coming decades.
