Title

Tracing the Radio Outflows in RQ AGN from Pc- to Kpc-scales

Abstract

We propose observations of 15 Seyfert galaxies from a well-selected sub-sample of the CfA+12 micron Seyfert sample of Gallimore et al. 2006, at 18 cm with the EVN+e-MERLIN. These sources have been identified to have dominant active galactic nuclei (AGN) contributions to their radio emission. 10 sources exhibit kpc-scale radio structures (KSRs) while others appear to be 'point sources' at a resolution of 15-20" in VLA observations (Gallimore et al. 2006). The origin of the KSRs is a much debated topic with the two primary contenders being AGN activity and stellar wind activity. With the proposed observations, we will be able to probe the intermediate scales between Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) and the arcsecond-resolution telescopes like the VLA or uGMRT, and trace the radio outflows from parsec- to sub-kpc-scales to determine if the primary drivers are AGN-related or star-formation (SF)-related. We expect the `point sources' to reveal core-jet morphologies on mas-scales. They may be compact sources even on these small scales making them Fanaroff-Riley 0 sources [Baldi et al. 2023]. We request for a total time of 45 hours for these observations.

Context for this data

This data is part of the archive of VLBI data maintained by JIVE on behalf of the EVN, a network of radio telescopes located primarily in Europe and Asia, with additional antennas in South Africa. The EVN archive itself has the DOI https://doi.org/10.17616/R3Z197
