Title

RQ Seyferts: group 1

Abstract

Radio emission in radio-quiet (RQ) active galactic nuclei (AGN) has long been debated on its origin (e.g star formation, jet, corona), VLBI observation is vital to explore the inner radio emission for understanding the parsec-scale radio properties in RQ AGNs. Here we propose to observe 5 nearby RQ Seyfert galaxies with the EVN at 1.7 GHz and 5 GHz. The 5 targets are selected from a cross-match sample of Swift/BAT AGNs and the first epoch catalog of VLA Sky Survey (VLASS), with selecting criteria of compact single component and peak flux over 10 mJy/beam in VLASS images. With the proposed observations, we will extract morphological, spectral index, and other quantitative parameters, to check if there are non-thermal jet-like structures in these RQ Seyferts. Together with the VLA core flux, and other physical parameters available for the sample (accretion disk properties), we would be able to revisit the possible empirical correlations between the parsec-scale radio emission and the black hole activity to get a more clear vision of the target sources. The proposed observations would also be complementary to the studies of RQ quasars with higher redshifts.

Context for this data

This data is part of the archive of VLBI data maintained by JIVE on behalf of the EVN, a network of radio telescopes located primarily in Europe and Asia, with additional antennas in South Africa. The EVN archive itself has the DOI https://doi.org/10.17616/R3Z197
