EC076
EVN GEODESY
We propose to measure the positions of 6 non-geodetic telescopes (EVN and e-MERLIN) by carrying out a non-standard geodetic-type experiment at 22 GHz. This is a repeat of the EC065 experiment, carried out in June 2018, which aimed at measuring the positions of ten such telescopes, but succeeded in measuring only four, due to the other stations not participating or not being correlated. We thus want to complete the original plan by acquiring a new data set, similar to EC065. Knowledge of all EVN telescope positions is mandatory for phase referencing observations which require an accurate VLBI geometrical model to perform well. This experiment will also allow us to determine the velocities of some of the telescopes by comparing the positions at the current epoch with positions determined 20 years ago from a similar such experiment.

Context for this dataThis data is part of the archive of VLBI data maintained by JIVE on behalf of the EVN, a network of radio telescopes located primarily in Europe and Asia, with additional antennas in South Africa. The EVN archive itself has the DOI https://doi.org/10.17616/R3Z197
