We propose a total of 81 hours of observations of compact steep-spectrum sources with the eEVN at L and C band spread over the next year to identify highly scattered Galactic pulsars in our sample set and differentiate them from extragalactic targets. The angular broadening measurements obtained from this project will characterize the line-of-sight scattering properties and enable informed searches for the true pulsar candidates. This proposal has the potential of uncovering a conventionally non-detectable sub-population of pulsars, and also potentially discovering a new population of Galactic sources that share some properties with pulsars but do not show pulsations.
